If you’re a human resources (HR) professional, here are five tech trends you’ll want to know about if you want to outperform your competition in 2019.tech

1. Augmented Analytics

In 2019, as big data for businesses continues to accumulate and expand, more and more HR professionals will need to rely on augmented people analytics tools to better manage and develop their employees and workforces.
These augmented people analytics tools will generate more user-friendly experiences with automated insights and reports via machine learning and will provide actionable insights and steps that business leaders can take—all without much supervision from technologists.
They can also help HR professionals develop better training and development programs, as well as develop better operational workflows across their organizations. HR professionals, however, should be cautious and remember that “AI without humans can [still] be ‘stupid.’”

2. Enhanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI tools will be used to enhance recruitment, onboarding, and continuous learning processes in 2019 and beyond. And they’ll rely on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies to practically eliminate repetitive and time-consuming tasks for HR professionals.
Overall, more and more HR professionals will begin to rely on AI-enhanced tools to focus on less tedious tasks so that they’re better able to offer more personalized experiences to their employees.

3. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)

VR and AR tech will continue to gain popularity in 2019 in HR departments. HR departments will use VR in HR environments mainly for sexual harassment training programs, onboarding programs, safety training programs, and compliance training programs.

According to research highlighted by Glassdoor, job postings with video icons are viewed 12% more than postings without videos, and companies receive 34% more applications when they add a video to their job listings. Additionally, HR professionals and recruiters will want to be able to receive video content from their prospective candidates, as well.

5. Self-Service Tools

Employees will need to be able to access their benefits, profiles, development and training plans, payroll and financial information, and more via self-service tools in 2019. They’ll need to be able to do things like log their own hours and time-off requests, submit reimbursements for travel expenses, explore their own career path plans, etc.
These self-service HR tools will save HR professionals from having to manually process everything for employees and will help ensure that employees have up-to-date, personalized, and more accurate records and profiles.
