1. Predictive Analytics

Predictive analytics will allow employers to determine, with a decent amount of accuracy, which candidate out of 10 or more applicants will be the best fit for their organizations. Out of 200 Human Resources (HR) professionals Outmatch polled, 95% said access to analytics that could predict candidates’ performance and on-the-job success would be helpful, showing its attractiveness to recruiters. Even though only around 35% of employers have access to predictive analytics right now, this will change in the coming years, and more employers will start using it.

2. Diversity Hiring and Blind Hiring

There have been a lot of claims made about bias in the workforce this past year, especially in the technology industry where there aren’t currently as many women or minorities as there are Caucasian men. In 2018, more recruiters are going to hire “blindly” when it comes to demographic data. They will rid résumés and application material of information about an applicant’s gender, age, race, or anything that can have an unconscious bias attached to it. Recruiters will also work harder to understand how to attract and develop a more diverse workforce based on merit.

3. Diverse Perks

Recruiters are going to begin to get more creative with what they offer job candidates in 2018. They’re going to offer more remote work opportunities so that employees can work wherever they want more often throughout the workweek. They’re also going to offer more diverse benefits packages that include services to mental health care and financial literacy services. And they’re going to start offering more opportunities for employees to achieve a better work/life balance.

4. Future-Proofing Roles

With the rise in popularity of technology like predictive analytics and artificial intelligence, some jobs are starting to fade away (e.g., manufacturing workers, travel agents). However, new roles will surface as a result, if companies are looking in the right direction. In 2018, many recruiters will need a robust internal recruitment strategy. They will need to determine the best way to develop positions being replaced by technological advancements into future roles. This means identifying the staff members who are willing to embrace different aspects of jobs that require a human element, such as management, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and other areas. By future-proofing roles, companies will save money as they transition to technology-driven labor, while maximizing the human potential they already have.

Keep these recruitment trends in mind for 2018 if you want to continue to outpace your competition.
